Carnivorous Bliss

If anyone can tell me where to get a better steak than at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, I'd like to hear it. Even more than the wines, the top-notch service, the simply prepared side dishes, the unadorned white plates and the sinfully sumptuous desserts...it's the steak that puts a smug smile on my face that can't be wiped off for at least a half hour. These people know how to take a primo slice of cow and with a bare minimum of treatments, raise it to a blissful plane.

My dessert plate with 'Happy Birthday Kathy' written in melted chocolate may have contributed ever so slightly to that smile.

We had to take a walk to let everything settle afterwards, so we went less than a mile down the road to Somerset Collection and walked the empty mall. All the stores were closed, but there was plenty of window shopping to do. Lots of trendy clothes for the 20-somethings, but some of the outfits actually weren't too bad. Lots of white and black, no shocking icky colors. Could sense and taste possibly be returning to fashion this year?

And all the ornamental trees were in full bloom. The rain and warmish weather of the last few days have coaxed all the trees into bud, leaf or blossom. From the walkway across Big Beaver Road between the two sides of the mall, we were eye-level with the tops of trees covered with white flowers.

Back to work tomorrow. My normal three-day weekend turned into a two-day weekend, which then ended up being only one day off. I worked Friday because of a schedule shortage, and then Saturday night because of a call-in. There was the usual three-ring circus of positive drug screens, drunken ER patients and terrible car accidents, plus the added fun of half the computer terminals not working due to a brief power flicker from evening thunderstorms.

For now, off for some much needed sleep!

Yes, Ruth's Chris does know what to do with a cow. Back in the day when I traveled to Baltimore quite a bit for work, that was some of the best, if not the best, eatin' I got to do there.
